Dr Louise Bourke

BSc(Hons) BMBS FRACGP

Dr Louise Bourke completed her medical degree at Flinders University of South Australia in 2002, then general practice fellowship in 2016. Prior to this she did a Bachelor of Science with Honours degree at the Menzies School of Health Research in Darwin.
She moved to Cairns with her husband and 4 children in 2016 and has lived most of her life in Darwin. She is of Aboriginal descent. She enjoys the diversity of health care in general practice from infancy to aged care and in particular, chronic disease management and women's health.
Furthering this, she completed a FPAA National Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health and is able to insert intrauterine devices and the implanon. She can also offer iron infusions.
Outside of work, Louise enjoys exploring the outdoors and bike riding.

Dr Alistair Tait

MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Alistair Tait completed his post-graduate medical training at the University of Wollongong in 2010; after three busy years working in hospitals in Sydney and across NSW he decided to specialize in General Practice and moved to QLD to complete his Fellowship in the Atherton Tablelands.
With a young family, Alistair shifted his practice back to NSW, working in the Southern Highlands for seven years before deciding life (and the fishing) was better in the North, returning to live and work in Cairns in May 2023.
Alistair has a keen interest in Men’s Health, Paediatrics and Mental Health. He is an efficient and thorough practitioner, who is passionate about delivering best practice medicine tailored to meet an individual’s needs.

Dr James White

Dr. James White is a dedicated GP with a warm and empathetic approach. He has a passion for providing comprehensive healthcare, specialising in skin checks and rashes, paediatric health, and managing chronic diseases.
He has worked extensively in remote areas and is comfortable with minor surgical procedures. He offers friendly personalised care and support to patients on their health journey.

Dr Nishari Wijewardena

BSc, MBBS, FRACGP, MPH

Dr Nishari completed her medical training at the University of Tasmania in 2006, graduating with honours. Her internship and hospital training was at the Wollongong hospital. Dr Nishari then did GP training in regional NSW and at the Wuchopperen Health Service in Cairns. After completion of her Fellowship of the RACGP, Dr Nishari moved permanently to Cairns in 2012 and worked in General Practice, including running a GP clinic at the Quigley Street Homeless Shelter in Cairns. She joined the Smithfield medical centre in 2013.
Dr Nishari has also completed a Masters degree in Public Health.
Dr Nishari has special interests in chronic disease management, family medicine, Antenatal (pregnancy) care, paediatrics and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health.
In her spare time, Dr Nishari loves to spend time with her family exploring the outdoors and camping.

Dr David Tran

Dr David Tran graduated from James Cook University, Townsville and has been working in Cairns ever since. He has worked in a number of specialities at the Cairns Base Hospital.
Dr David enjoys the personal patient interaction that general practice offers and has a keen interest in preventative medicine. He brings a caring and considerate approach to his practice to deliver holistic care to his patient's and their families.
In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, watching movies and SCUBA diving.

Dr Wendy Davie

BA B.Ed MD

Dr Wendy Davie and her family have relocated from Canada to the Northern Beaches of Cairns and has joined our team here at Beaches Family Practice.

Dr Davie has been practising as a GP since 2010 and has a special interest in Women's and Children's health and looks forward to meeting you and your family at our practice.

Dr Vivian Matthews

FRACGP, MBBS, FRANZCOG (diploma Obstetrics) and Rural General Practice Fellowship.

Dr Vivian Matthews completed his medical training at the University of Melbourne in 1993. He has been practicing in Cairns since 1998 and established the Kewarra Family Practice in 2006.

His areas of special interest included skin cancer checks and treatment, women's health and pregnancy care. He has also developed an interest in complex medical condition care.

Dr Patricia Ogilvie

FRACGP, MBChB, MRCGP,

Dr Ogilvie graduated from University of Liverpool, UK in 1997.

She first moved to Cairns in 1999 and completed her training in General Practice in 2004. She has also undertaken further studies in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Family Planning, and Dermoscopy (used for skin checks) .

She enjoys all aspects of family medicine from children to women’s health, mental health and elderly care.

Dr Patricia has worked in the UK, Fremantle WA and Brisbane before returning to Cairns in 2007 to settle with her family.

Dr Richard Thambyah

FRACGP, MBBS, MPH

Dr Thambyah completed his training in Sydney where he then worked in a university health service and aboriginal medical service. He holds a masters in public health and has an interest in general medicine and chronic disease management.

Dr Katherine Johnson

FRACGP, MBBS

Dr Katherine Johnson graduated in London in 1992 and completed her GP training in 1997 in the UK. She has been working as a GP in Australia since 2001 in remote western Australia and Queensland.

Dr Katherine's special interests include women's health and contraception, and performs insertion of intrauterine contraceptive devices.

Dr Nora Duffield

MBChb (Rhodesia), LRCP, LRCS (Edinburgh), Dip Obs (Auckland), FRCGPN, FRACGP,

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Dr Duffield completed her medical degree there and has been working in family medicine since 1985. After practicing in New Zealand for 17 years Dr Duffield moved the Beaches in 2002 and has been working at Trinity Family Practice since. Her medical interests include nutrition, addiction medicine, women's health and diabetes management. She now juggles working full time with her most important role as grandmother.
